karanguni: (TSENG smiles)
Back to Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core! It's like I never left. 8D This one - and the ones that'll hopefully come after it - is meant to be part of some lazy set of lighter-hearted drabbles about Shinra. 8D WE'LL SEE HOW IT WORKS OUT. This one floats alone in the old sea of the odd Zack and Tseng drabble-era.

Prompts are perfectly welcome in the comments. The more hilarious the better!

A July Day (Some People Know Too Much)

Fandom: Final Fantasy VII (Crisis Core timeline)
Characters: Zack, Tseng; random guest appearance by Kunsel
Rating: PG
Warnings: Gen, and humour, alas!
Summary: Zack whiles away a July day, and figures that some people just know too much.

2185 words and an inability to keep things short!

Zack whistled under his breath. 'This is one crazy city.' )
karanguni: (TSENG smiles)
On meds, and a little woozy, but [livejournal.com profile] white_jenna told me she'd read the small Lazard-Reeve thing I'd written a while back, and I know [livejournal.com profile] _ice_lady_ wanted a bit more of it, so here's some randomly put together bits of two or three Shinra Directors. :D I'm going to sleep on this one before I think of posting it elsewhere; is it too silly, you think?

The original snippet is under the first cut; if you've read that before then just click on the second cut straightaway. \o

Young Ones

A drabble. Reeve, Lazard, sudden guest appearance by Veld. PG. Unabashed cross-referencing of Crisis Core and Before Crisis, though you really don't need to know more beyond the words "Shinra" and "politics". ~1200 words.

The rising political animal is a very dangerous creature, Reeve tells himself. )

Lazard gets what he wants with a combination of sheer, dogged determination and a general apathy shared by every executive save Reeve. )
karanguni: (RUFUS looks)
Hi universe, am still alive and badly needing a) a break and b) the ability to either c) purchase the world or d) destroy it with my finger; on so few hours of sleep it's ridiculous, and body refuses to let me sleep even when I'm tired, so here, have incoherent Final Fantasy VII fic, written in a fit of experimentation (again). It's incoherent even to me, so yay!

Sort-of counterpoint to Tseng's insane-torture-braindeath in Flip, with strange echoes to Restorations, but neither is even consciously related. What am I talking about? Writing on 4 hours of sleep in the last 30 is a bad idea.

O Brother

Fandom: Final Fantasy VII, with Crisis Core bits
Rating: Soft R
Characters: Rufus, Lazard
Summary: The Stigma makes Rufus recall other sicknesses that are so well steeped in blood.

1414 words and Rufus being as crazy as how I feel. \o

Rufus has too little imagination to dream: all his hallucinations are efforts of recombination and resuscitation, classroom lessons and bedroom etiquette. )
karanguni: (RUFUS' clothes)
I swore to myself that I wouldn't add on to the Unnamed Series That Zack and Tseng Share, but a friend helped me out with something and I ended up writing a drabble to pay her back -- tadah! Tseng's point of view, this time, set just after Cream and Bastards.

Back at del Sol; Tseng/Zack (sort of), PG (sort of), Crisis Core spoilers (sort of). The worst part of it all is that Tseng knows they have to be out here.

882 words.

This isn't so much surveillance duty as it is exile. )

PROMPTCALL

Apr. 15th, 2008 12:36 am
karanguni: (ED high)
This entry is going to be full of nonsense, because I'm stuck sitting up at my laptop when I should really be asleep, and the only answer for this is fic, and tea, and probably the gouging out of eyeballs tomorrow morning.

Promptcall!

Once again, the friendly vampire of insanity has bitten me on the neck, and it's a free-for-all call for anything to do with Final Fantasy VII, Baccano!, Gundam Wing (mostly the Magnificent Bastard people of Wing, aka the Best Friends make for Better Enemies lot), Good Omens, Ocean's Arithmetic 11 (+1/2) and Final Fantasy XII's (Archadians, please). Go!

To spur you/me on, here, have a completely unrelated and far too cracky drabble that my ocha-fuelled brain has produced!

Hapless SOLDIERs (Third Class) A, B and C discuss SOLDIER, First Class

Why would I be jealous of a man who has incredible amounts of leeway within the Company, apparently no limit to his paycheck, a ridiculously overpowered inventory -- have you seen what Science gives him? -- and almost unwarranted popularity amongst both SOLDIER and the female demographic? )

[Edit:] The comments are where all the replies are going to go. Right now, we've got:

- Final Fantasy VII characters and their hobbies (Rufus, Sephiroth, Angeal, Tseng)
- Final Fantasy VII characters and their shoes (man, I love you guys and your brains) (Elena, Tseng, Zack)
karanguni: (RUFUS looks)
God, I hate writing young Rufus; he's a pain in the ass. A bit experimental and crazy; this fic really didn't want to get written properly. D:

Title: Elevator Action
Characters: Tseng, Rufus, Lazard and ambiguous relationships in between
Rating: PG-13
Summary: Intra-departmental (and intra-personal) relationships are more than just complicated. In between War and conspiracy, family and duty, Shinra gets by.
Warnings: Mangles the timeline a little; Rufus is 17, but considering his mental age, I don't think I'll get struckthrough. Lazard's taken as Rufus big, bad brother. Set just before the beginning of Crisis Core.

2749 words. It's like one big Shinra orgy, just without the much sex. 8D (I am God's gift but why would he bless me with/Such wit without a conscience equipped.)

The man was a friend, but sometimes all that 'friend' meant in this place was 'accomplice'. )

Another monster spawned from a prompt; this time it's [livejournal.com profile] obabscribbler (something Cissnei/Aerith, post-Zack).

Title: Surveillance Duty
Characters: Cissnei, Aerith, Tseng
Rating: PG
Summary: Cissnei starts to Aerith; then Cissnei realises she can't stop. (What, she wonders, would it be like to have something and be someone normal?)
Warnings: Set after the Nibelheim mission. Slight timeline liberty taken, spoilers for Before Crisis.

1121 words, and hooray for relationship ambiguity!

Cissnei could see why Zack'd fallen for Aerith. )
karanguni: (HUGHES junshou)
One more prompt reply - I'm working through the others as they come to me. xD The request post still isn't closed, so go ahead and stick me with a few more.

For [livejournal.com profile] obabscribbler, Tseng and Cissnei post-Turk discovery of Zack's body. 465 words.

East of Eden )
karanguni: (Default)
Title: Prodigal
Rating: PG
Characters: Lazard, Reeve
Summary: The calmer side of Shinra's corporate belly (the ones who don't kill anyone, or at least not first hand) have a chat in the middle of SOLDIER's beaten up training room - about genial things, like bloodthirsty inter-departmental undercutting, and temperamental subordinates, but definitely not about family.
Warnings: Speculation about Lazard's heritage (not overtly mentioned in game canon, but so strongly hinted at that I couldn't resist). Lots of invention regarding Shinra, but we're all used to that by now...

1209 words. Lazard must have thrown some kind of a fit after Sephiroth, Genesis and Angeal did that number on the training simulator. As for Reeve - don't ask me, ask him.

The door to the training room slid open. 'Wait, they broke it again?' )
karanguni: (RUFUS looks)
Written for fic_on_demand at IJ. Prompt: Final Fantasy VII: Zack going clubbing pre-Crisis, all by himself. Having fun, partying, dancing, whatever, but he's alone. Why?

I think he and Tseng should go shoot themselves in the head before I die writing them. YES, THIS IS GOOD PLAN.

Title: Country Boy
Characters: Zack, Tseng cameo
Rating: PG
Warnings: Set just at the very beginning of Crisis Core. Assumptions made about Tseng's history and background. And Wutai - Wutai exists for us to make stuff up about it. xD
Summary: It's good to find a place where you can feel alive.

1177 words.

But there was no one from Wutai; that was war country. )
karanguni: (RUFUS looks)
I need to stop writing now or I am going to kill myself.

Title: Cream and Bastards
Characters: Tseng, Zack
Rating: PG-13 (swearing)
Summary: Tseng and Zack talk; about what they've done, and who they've done.
Warnings: Set in the middle of Crisis Core, when Zack is exiled to spend time on a beach with the Turks. Spoilers for Crisis Core and Before Crisis.

2768 words. Almost, but not quite, slash.

And it was only the remaining cream and bastards who rose to the top. Tseng was more than a little of both. )
karanguni: (RUFUS' clothes)
Title: Fact of the Matter
Characters: Zack, Tseng
Rating: PG
Summary: Zack's spent too much damned time in helicopters watching Tseng watching him watching Tseng.
Warnings: Crisis Core insertfic just after Zack and Tseng have that... interesting conversation regarding Aerith outside the church.

1255 words. Genfic. Tseng is a bit twisty, but only if you squint.

Tseng tilted his head to the side, just barely. 'I wasn't aware that I was looking at you in any particular way.' )

A universe of unmapped grief and love
And new master light is beyond
The pleiades and plow and southern stars.

O soaring
Icarus of outworld, burn bright
The traceries of known skymarks,
Slide the highway planets behind
Your clear waxed wings.

Go conquer the everywhere left
Beyond your sad confinement
In a predicted bonehouse,
Witch thrown riddle of flesh
And water.

O soar until nothing
remains but great glittering holes
In the black godspun shirt over your head.
