If anyone wants to just talk/vent/talk-vent about other things, feel free to just... come into the comments and say hi and stuff. I'm finding that even if I'm mentally coming around to things, I'm community-starved right now. So, yeah. Open invitation, even if you're just randomly drifting by.

I wonder if my husband could get a job in Europe or even Japan, but we've got a kid. That complicates things.

Trump's election filled me with unease, since, well, Competent Woman Loses to Incompetent Asshole, plus the whole "right-wing populist rises to power" thing. I'm having uneasy recollections of 1930s history.
As for what to do, well. Place one foot in front of another. Form networks of people who wish to protest, and mobilize for the midterms. Whatever you do, don't give up.

I'm not American, but yeah, a lot of feels about organising just community and social level things from my friends group and out - to help people have people and to make sure I've got a buffer of sanity for myself.
Yeah. A lot of the vitriol and ground-level hate that's coming up is just... yeah.

I'm trying to turn up and help a local left-wing party, as part of stopping the right-wing wave. Political activism has really gone down over the decades, and I honestly think it should be reversed. The political parties here, though capable of compromise and consensus, do advocate for different things and focus on different means. A lot of people seem to just Not Get that and think they're all the same. Well, no. They all agree on keeping the welfare state, but some are way more lax than others, and attitudes to climate and the economy are way different. I have experienced a political awakening, and I seek to make the world a better place.
