Yule Recs II

In an attempt to make myself read more, I rec more. *g*

7 fandoms:

Discworld

Beginnings

A short, sweet fic about Death at Susan's birth. I love/adore/want to kidnap the Mort in this. *g* Death's perspective? The author hammers that right down. Nail on the head.

The Perfect Gift

VIMES. AND. I CANNOT BREATHE. This shortfic just made me sporfle and glee.

The Graveyard Book

May You Find Hope Everlasting

Bod, and Silas. For everyone who wanted the boy to not just leave.

The Left Hand of Darkness

Cinders and Snow

Oh, Genly. We know you kinda had your heart stolen way up there on the Ice, but Le Guin was diligent and wrote onwards, leaving this gap where your thoughts could've rested. This little snippet comes in just right, and evokes all the right feels. Estraven's a heartbreaker, he is.

Lucifer

Gloria In Exelsis Deo (maybe the highest, but not-Heaven)

Nothing, absolutely nothing, less than a string of keyboardsmash could justify my love for this fic. It takes Elaine and turns her into a believable, beautifully snarky and absolutely canon-based godhead. I love Elaine, here - this fic helps to justify and ground her as a believable heir to omniscience. Her voice is spot on: an amazing, easy blend of serious, incisive introspection and teenaged flip. And then there's Duma, who radiates his character for a radius of 5000000000 kilometres. He's compassionate and quiet and intelligent and eager to please and Elaine's angel. *g* In every sense of the word. Plus, he appears in jeans. Just in case you needed further reason to read this right now. Gabriel is in it, too, and he acts as a wonderful springboard for some really good comments about family, Creation and free will. ♥

Man from UNCLE

The Secret Santa Affair

Illya and Napoleon flirt a lot, and all is well with the world this Christmas. *g*

A Night in Brussels

I do love Illya playing the main role. He gets beat up a lot in canon, but here he just shines as a sorta-kinda believable UNCLE spy - and he's been written just as smart and just as suave as he's played on the screen.
