[Snowflake] Days 1 & 2

Why am I doing Snowflake?

Every year Yuletide reminds me that I like having an online presence in fandom, and every year I try to Snowflake a little to get to know more people. I'm going to try to be really committed to some fandom/writing NYR goals this year, so it dovetails nicely. /waves to everyone new

In your own space, share a favorite memory about fandom

Everything that's ever ended in a collaboration. One of my longest, most important, and most creative friendships came from randomly joining an RP when I was fifteen (?!) I was humbled and elated to co-write with people like Nyx not much later than that - long, long streams of back-and-forth across multiple media types. I've been incredibly lucky to have had work that I've done be transformed into art (D, pere, and of course Crim, who made a whole! doujin! for Executive Reform) and into podfic (Rhea). Fandom has been a consistently generous - if erratic - source of creativity and productivity in my life, and I'd be a much duller "real life" person without it, methinks.

(here from the Snowflake Challenge :))

The generosity of fans, with their time and their creativity, never ceases to amaze me!

It's an amazing thing about fandom that, while we are inspired to create by the original canon, other fans are inspired to create by our fanworks. I'm glad you've had such wonderful experiences in that regard.
