I just spent a metric ton of money on establishing a - hopefully - native-ish, drought-tolerant flower garden and I actually feel like a human being for the first time in months for it.

Contra vim mortis non crescit herba in hortis, but there certainly might be some cure, however temporary, to brain chemistry fuck-yous in the smell of composting manure and roots going into the ground.

Yay for gardening! =D

(I have a black thumb, but I grew up surrounded by my mother's plants. :D )

It is! I kind of feel bad that this house came with four colors of roses because I have no idea how to care for them so they're just...growing wild and doing their thing. (Well, or they were when there were roses...it's too far into summer for any flowers to be left alive now.) :)

Oooh! What part of the world are you in? (I'm gearing up for a similar task and am keen to hear details from other people who have done it, though I'm in northern California and for all I know my climate is nothing like yours.)

Oh, excellent! I've been doing a lot in the garden recently too, and it's endlessly satisfying. Right now I have a load of plants in pots waiting to become an ornamental/wildlife border at the front, as soon as I get around to it... :-)
