I'm karanguni everywhere (DW, AO3, tumblr, Discord Yuletide/EAD). Like the rare corpse flower, I bloom only from Yuletide nominations to some ambiguous time in March before inevitably dying unless someone in fandom reanimates me.
Feel free to add me/ping me out of the blue for any reason!
What are your fandoms the rest of the year?
I wish I had fandoms the rest of the year, but I'm awful at consuming new canons and being fannish in general. I'm a Final Fantasy VII Turk lifer, love The Culture, will read anything Vorkosigan Saga related that has Simon Illyan in it, am here for anything related to Hikaru no Go/Go in general in spite of not playing the game at all, and, uhhh... /sinks into the ground
You'd have fun getting to know people who ____:
Are just generally social. I don't do memes or exchanges most of the time, but I'd love more reasons to simply hang out. I rarely am on tumblr, but I always start the year wanting to be more active on DW or (though I fail hard at this) Discord. I'd really like being a regular beta reader for people, for example! Or some people to
holdcrush my hand until I get the app code to a point where I can open source it without hating myself for the code quality and also well documented enough for folks with no coding experience to push-button it.What was the most fun/fraught part of Yuletide 2020?
Writing anything in 2020 was a marvellous uphill battle all on its own. There was also that moment where the letter database on the app got mysteriously wiped, that was fun.
Convince us to consume your favourite Yuletide canon in five sentences or less, GO!
The Culture is series with standalone books, reads like slightly darker scifi Terry Pratchett with more Ships With Ridiculous Names In It, and is generally the opposite of 2020 while also definitely not a utopia. BOOM.
Describe the most serendipitous/hilarious/wtf Yuletide moment in your Yuletide career:
The year my treat recipient accidentally got matched to me as a beta and we both didn't realise it until (I think) I asked for their username to give them credit. Considering how INCREDIBLY NICHE the fic was, it was pretty funny once the mortification wore off. This is why I never trust Discord usernames anymore, too.

freaking out aboutparticipating in this year?I always get sucked into Chocolate Box, so that, and I think some folks have promised to bean me in the head with messages until I sign up for Worldbuild Ex.

What are your fandoms the rest of the year? My Megafandoms are Harry Potter, Whedonverses, the Stargates, White Collar, Lucifer, MCU and others. Smaller Fandoms include MASH, Danger Days, Tortall, Dragonriders of Pern, The Librarians, and most Disney movies.
You'd have fun getting to know people who ____: Would gush about fannish things with me, exchange beta services with me, poke me if I haven't been around in a week or so, help motivate me to finish some long fics languishing on my harddrive, and game with me. I'd also like people with whom I could gush about non-fanish things, like theatre and computer programming/cybersecurity, NaNo, self-care, and possibly becoming RL friends. (I know, internet people are scary and better seen behind a screen, but still...)
What was the most fun/fraught part of Yuletide 2020? The presence of 2020 in my Yuletide was the most fraught thing. This year has been... a year. The most fun thing was a tie between discovering new fandoms and finally writing a thing for a person who has requested it for years that I've been meaning to do.
Convince us to consume your favourite Yuletide canon in five sentences or less, GO! Okay, so Danger Days, True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys is a concept album/videos from MCR that is set in a cyberpunk future with lots of bright colors and some emotional feels and it has the best of random hyper battle scenes and emotional identity angst and your id will be happy no matter what!
Describe the most serendipitous/hilarious/wtf Yuletide moment in your Yuletide career: Most hilarious in hindsight is definitely the time I wasn't clear with a Hippo and wasn't paying attention and almost had someone beta their own treat. This was way back in the irc days before asking recip name became standard. Once they PM'd me I realized it and was like, 'oop, computer trouble, give me a min' and bashed out a quick madness treat for the other person I was considering who requested the fandom to give to them to beta. It all went well, and both liked their treats, but I was panicking! :D

freaking out aboutparticipating in this year? I have struggled with staying active through Chocobox and the summer, so I'm excited to treat that one, if not sign up. I'm also excited about the lists that have been kicking around, and seeing what I'm able to get to. I'll probably do more PHing/Treating than Signing Up for the first half of the year, at least. Though I am excited for Holiday Horror to open.Other: I'm a stats Coalie. Come gush about stats with me!

What are your fandoms the rest of the year?
Cosmic MCU, Oasis RPF, assorted tiny horror fandoms. In the past I've also been into Buffy, SPN, and hockey RPF.
You'd have fun getting to know people who ____:
Like to talk about horror in whatever media, their exchange activities, and/or what they're reading. And definitely anyone who would like to talk Oasis with me, whether music or RPF or both.
What was the most fun/fraught part of Yuletide 2020?
Probably finishing up a long treat with like four hours to go before reveals. I guess that counts for both the fun and fraught questions, lol.
Convince us to consume your favourite Yuletide canon in five sentences or less, GO!
Oasis RPF, aka extremely public fucked-up incesty dynamics between two endlessly quotable RL brothers who liked to kiss and grope in public and now are tragically estranged. :'( The music isn't bad either! If you want to know know more, I wrote a primer. :D
Describe the most serendipitous/hilarious/wtf Yuletide moment in your Yuletide career:
The time I recced the only a/b/o fic in the collection to a friend, only to find out they'd written it. 2k+ works to choose from, not a fandom we'd ever discussed, and yet!
What other exchanges will you be
freaking out aboutparticipating in this year?YT is my only for-sure exchange this year, but my maybes include Unusual Bearings, Just Married, Multifandom Horror, Trick or Treat, and whatever flash exchanges catch my eye. I'm aiming to sign up for less this year and treat more.

What are your fandoms the rest of the year? ffxv, nirvana in fire, tgcf, sleuth of ming dynasty, leverage, psmith; perennially lotr, discworld, le guin; a lot of small book and anime fandoms. i'm multifannish, with hurt/comfort as a uniting theme.
You'd have fun getting to know people who share my fandoms, enjoy hurt/comfort, are passionate about whatever they're into.
What was the most fun/fraught part of Yuletide 2020? i did two rewrites of my main fic, trying to get the tone i wanted, and the last one was very close under the wire…
Convince us to consume your favourite Yuletide canon in five sentences or less, GO! wodehouse's psmith: a languid, snarky, gorgeous weirdo psmith with a gift of hilarious verbiage meets his stoic and kind best friend, adorer,

What are your fandoms the rest of the year? The Expanse is my current fave, but I'm multifannish so I like to flit around. MCU, Teen Wolf, Star Trek AOS, His Dark Materials, Derry Girls, and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel are all things I would love to geek out on with you. I also just finished watching The Queen's Gambit and WW1984 and welcome your Gay Thoughts on those (because I have many).
You'd have fun getting to know people who ____: Are active on tumblr! It's very cozy there right now. It'd be great to find people into similar fandoms, especially other writers who enjoy spitting headcanons and talking out fic ideas. Outside of fandom, I also love memes, archery, and receiving cute photos of your animals.
What was the most fun/fraught part of Yuletide 2020? I was a Yulebie this year, so I was very nervous about getting my assignment just right. I definitely had the most fun browsing the app. There were so many amazing letters and prompts! Definitely gave me lots of ideas for next year...
Convince us to consume your favourite Yuletide canon in five sentences or less, GO! Uh, uh—Jupiter Ascending! Does that count? I hope so, because it's really got everything. Politics! Weird genetic splices! A rags-to-riches princess storyline! It's all my self-indulgent space opera dreams brought to life, and there's so much room in the universe to play.
Describe the most serendipitous/hilarious/wtf Yuletide moment in your Yuletide career: Uh, I'm basically a Yuletide intern. I look forward to gaining this experience in the future; thank you for your consideration.

freaking out aboutparticipating in this year? I don't think RL will give me enough time to sign up for anything before next Yuletide, but I'm going to try to treat throughout the year instead.no subject
I'm SouthernContinentSkies both here and on AO3, and a hyphenated version on tumblr. (tumblr is mostly cute animals with a sprinkling of fannish and/or humor stuff as warranted)
What are your fandoms the rest of the year?
Vorkosigan Saga! As a distant second, Dragon Age. I've also been moderately into various other small-to-medium book fandoms: Goblin Emperor, Locked Tomb Trilogy, A Memory Called Empire (that one will probably be my next obsession if I ever shove off Vorkosigan Saga). Into MDZS/CQL, The Old Guard, and Critical Role as well, but primarily as a spectator. A more distant spectator of various mega-fandoms, including Good Omens and (residually) Harry Potter.
You'd have fun getting to know people who ____:
Ideally have similar fandom interests to me, though not necessarily identical ones. I love discovering new things via fans adjacent to me, which is how I picked up every single piece of media in the previous answer (with the exception of Vorkosigan Saga, which I picked up on a rec from a Captain Awkward commenter, no joke). As may be obvious, I love SFF and complicated politics/explorations of grey areas, and also worldbuilding.
What was the most fun/fraught part of Yuletide 2020?
Ahaha. I finished my assignment with ~4 hours to spare, I think, and I had to add several extraneous adverbs to get it over the limit (though I edited it considerably over the next week before reveals, and it ended up at 1.2k). That was mostly on the fraught side, and it's because I came to the 11th-hour conclusion that the ~2.5k draft I already had was just not going to come together and I really needed to start over from scratch. Oof.

Barrayar Expects That Every Fan Will Do Their Duty: Excerpts From A Fandom is a Yuletide fic itself, for Vorkosigan Saga, but it uses the Vorkosigan characters as fans of a fictional TV show called Barrayar, which occupies thematic territory somewhere in between Star Wars and Firefly. The fic itself is in the style of an LJ feed for one of the fans, and contains a delightful sketch of fandom in that format, complete with lists of (fictional) fic recs, snippets of meta discussions, a party in one of the fan's journals for her "RL" wedding to another fan, and tons more. It's 18k words of hilarious meta love-letter to (journal-based) fandom, and if you have Vorkosigan canon familiarity you also get the bonus of seeing all your favorite characters reimagined as crack(ish) modern AU versions of themselves. It's very niche (though no Vorkosigan canon knowledge is required) and very entertaining.
Describe the most serendipitous/hilarious/wtf Yuletide moment in your Yuletide career:
This was my first Yuletide, so I do not yet have one of those! Excited to develop a repertoire in future years, though.

freaking out aboutparticipating in this year?Well. In 2020 I did 9 whole exchanges, and that was kind of a lot! 2019 was my first year actually writing fic, so I sort of dove in head-first once I found out how exchanges actually worked. This year, I will probably stick with Chocolate Box (already signed up), Hurt/Comfort, Nonconathon, and ONE Halloween exchange (I did both Trick or Treat and Shipoween last year, and having two assignments due at exactly the same time was rather stressful). I probably won't do Fandom 5k or Fic in a Box again, and instead just trawl the sign-ups for treat possibility.

I'm
What are your fandoms the rest of the year?
My main fandoms haven't changed much: Dragon Age & Critical Role. I do pick up others for a time or two, usually video games, sometimes books.
You'd have fun getting to know people who ____:
Post a mix of real life and fandom, like music and tabletop games a lot. I'm working on a novel this year and pushing my short works submissions this year too, so also people who are writing or want to write original stuff.
What was the most fun/fraught part of Yuletide 2020?
The waiting. Both for an idea to strike (I ended up writing for a fandom I didn't match on), and then waiting for it to go live and being able to see what my recipient thought about it.
Convince us to consume your favourite Yuletide canon in five sentences or less, GO!
I haven't requested it in a few years, but Little Red Riding Hood is probably always going to be my favorite. Everyone knows the story already. And it's easy to make it different to change the meanings and play with the characters. You can change almost everything about it, and somehow it still has the roots of the original.
Describe the most serendipitous/hilarious/wtf Yuletide moment in your Yuletide career:
I picked up a last minute PH YEARS AGO now that was a request for a LOLcat story. It was Christmas Eve and my partner and I just riffed back and forth for a few hours, working out ideas until finally we struck on something that just seemed to work out. All those little five minute fandom experiences are both challenging and freeing.

What are your fandoms the rest of the year?: I'm always stumbling into fandoms two years late with Starbucks and contrarian takes (except MCU where I was a Tony Stark hipster). Currently loving The Raven Cycle and The Locked hTomb and trying to make fandoms happen for Amazon's The Tick (2017) and Tuesday Mooney Talks to Ghosts. All time fandoms are Buffy, Marvel comics + the original X-Men movies, Fullmetal Alchemist manga and Brotherhood, and all things Shakespeare, particularly the history plays.
You'd have fun getting to know people who ____:
People who are interested in conversation. I post a lot about books and tend to read recent releases but am trying to broaden into more classics and backlist. I also love music, particularly live music, and am definitely missing my fix here in the still shutdown US.
What was the most fun/fraught part of Yuletide 2020?
Fun was finishing Harrow the Ninth hours before the archive went live so I could dive into Locked Tomb stories. Fraught redacted on the 'if you can't say anything nice' principle.

Describe the most serendipitous/hilarious/wtf Yuletide moment in your Yuletide career:
Drew my BFF and she had no idea; extra funny because I had ALREADY in the same year drawn her for Remix and successfully lied about what I was writing, so she just assumed I wouldn't be trying to fool her again. Unlike the remix, which she recognized as mine as soon as she saw the summary, she had no idea about the YT.
What other exchanges will you be freaking out about participating in this year?
Chocolate Box, Remix if it happens. Interested in hearing about other ones!

What are your fandoms the rest of the year? Stephen King, other horror, Claremont-era X-Men/New Mutants comics, Torchwood, The Punisher (TV), many small book fandoms, tiny horses and other tiny things.
You'd have fun getting to know people who ____: are into small book fandoms.
What was the most fun/fraught part of Yuletide 2020? My 1970s movies AU story "You're Wrong About Misericorde" turning out to be even more of a mindfuck than I'd hoped and getting multiple comments from readers who'd googled stuff like "Steven Spielberg celery pillow" to see whether it was real or not.
Convince us to consume your favourite Yuletide canon in five sentences or less, GO!
If you're OK with pandemics and problematic stuff, The Stand has fantastic characters with tons of shipping possibilities including an extremely heroic canonically bisexual woman who tries to kill the Devil with a switchblade.
Describe the most serendipitous/hilarious/wtf Yuletide moment in your Yuletide career: Way back when you couldn't edit your own fic and if you wanted to correct something, you had to email a mod, I emailed Elyn Ross something like four times because my extremely porny last-minute treat had a number of logistical sex problems and I needed her to do stuff like having the heroine take off her panties rather than them magically vanishing, etc.
