1. I am vaguely alive, but have been either drowning in work or (?!?!) sick for three weeks. Advice: do not be sick for three weeks
2. Besides signing up for FFFX, I have nae touched Dreamwidth or much of anything fandom besides helping with administrative stuff; I owe people some catchup and mail and hopefully will do so nearer to Yuletide nominations!
3. Because sickness and confused brain chemistry combined = ???, I shoved some SQL together to make the automagic app capable of grouping by fandom across all scraped exchanges. That was a fun but mentally ! Sunday afternoon. And since, yay, real DB, it's now perfectly extensible; I've already shoved username grouping in, but it'll be interesting to see how other groupings will work.*


*It won't, for the same reason AO3 is mostly broken; tags are inconsistent and I sure as hell ain't synning anything for this DB. But it's nice to think that in theory it could.

This cold still dogs at my feet, but I'm 18 hours without decongestants so far so maybe tomorrow will see an improvement. TIS WRETCHED, but it was nice to get things done. I am sitting on your last letter from AGES ago; how are your roses??? Mine are doing a double bloom right now and tis quite nice, though I've abused them something fierce this summer.

My roses are doing great! I thought the Dame De Coeur bush had died but it rallied, put out new leaves, and even put out two more roses a couple weeks ago. The Chrysler Imperial had another bloom just two days ago. And the Marie Pavié isn't blooming right now but has a LOT of leaves and had a few weeks of roses, roses, everywhere. I have decided that I LOVE heritage roses! I basically just leave them alone and they do for themselves. (I am ass at gardening, and what with the rain we get here, I don't really have need to water them extra.)

Yeah, they're super easy in almost every climate. I've got a bunch this year from the Canadian Explorer series, which can take the stupid batterings they get in my part of the world. I also would recommend Stanwell Perpetual if you have an area where a lanky shrubby rose might go - they aren't much to look at at first but the scent is glorious.

Me, I'm stressing out over work deadlines and sending the kid back to school -- third grade already -- even though it is illegal for schools to mandate masking. Every single kid in their class is masking, at least, as are both teachers, but an unhealthy percentage of other kids, especially in the oldest grades, are not. :( :( :(

One day we'll get a vax for under-12s. One day....

Ai, that's stressful. I have no small beings to tend over, but am glad that we managed to stick masks on all grades before school opened (barely). Best of luck! Is work interesting or just D: sprint to the finish?
