Art: jasjkflajs BUGGER ALLE THIS

Every once in a while, I decide to inflict upon myself the non-duty of doing something with my non-skill in non-art. I suck at it, and yet I do it. :D I blame the genius of people like [livejournal.com profile] dnatio_memoriae and [livejournal.com profile] pere_chan, who both make me feel like picking up the stylus and TORMENTING YOU PEOPLE TO RETINAL DEATH. Oh, an [livejournal.com profile] regicialdwarf, whose dance playlist kept me sane. Ish. Sanish.

Click for the even fuller version (1000 px-ish). Note that the arrow points at the hand, which I gave up on. People whom I owe drabbles - I apologise for wasting effort on this instead. *BEAMS*

God, I haven't painted in... months? Years? jaslkfjalkfsjlajsf NEVER AGAIN.

Ohohoho! It pleases me to think that my art has given birth to something like this, as opposed to just fandom wank.

I adore the painterly feel of it (is it Corel Painter? is it is it?). I have not done something sketchy like this in a while. I think I might, because it is always so much fun. And life drawing. That too.

Do not make good on your promise to "NEVER AGAIN". The previous statement is non-negotiable. If you proceed to do so, possible consequences may include failure to receive art from me again. Ever.

Question: who be the subject?

[identity profile] dnatio-memoriae.livejournal.com 2009-01-18 12:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Also! How do you post your artwork in that size? Do you have to use an image client to be able to do that? Uploading to the LJ galleries only allows you to post with preview size pics (I think), which I find a little irritating.

If your art's given birth to this, who's the father? *BEAMS*

Nay, it's not Painter - I don't have it on the new desktop (yet) - it's Photoshop. And I can't paint unsketchily, because everytime I try photorealism Something Dies In A Third World Country (TM). :D

WHAT? I'M A WRITER, GOD DAMN IT, I WRITE FOR ART, NOT... ART FOR ART. THAT'S LIKE WILDE OR THE FRENCH PHILOSOPHER GUY.

Subject's some random photographed person that I picked off the interwebs. \o\ I have zero ability to do anything other than mimick.

If you upload to an lj gallery, just ignore the stupid preview size and copy the main link if you want the full version. I, being a lazy bastard, save a pre-cut image, a post-cut image, and then a downsized but still fullsized version. \o/

Photoshop => oh god, with its million to the power of ten number of functions. I will approach tentatively once I am sufficiently trained up on traditional techniques and can actually draw things the way I want to.

Hehe. BLACKMAIL BE MY MIDDLE NAME, DIDN'T YA KNOW?

[identity profile] dnatio-memoriae.livejournal.com 2009-01-18 12:21 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm going to try this. So let me get this straight: just copy the link and paste it into your entry directly? *is computer-illiterate*

[identity profile] karanguni.livejournal.com 2009-01-18 12:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Painting in Photoshop is ridiculously easy, after you get the hang of it. "Getting the hang of it", for me, was just going through the bajillion recommendations that artists have on dA -- ha! when did I first try to do art? Around... 200... 4? -- and then picking one. The tools all just boil down to one single function: the brush. At the end of the day, Painter's more complicated becuase you *feel* like playing all the time. In Photoshop I just take a brush, make it bigger or smaller or more opaque or more transparent, and hack and hack and hack until my eyes fall out of my face. HOORAY.

Go to your gallery, click on the full sized picture, copy that link.

Retinal death? I think not. I agree with dnatio--"never again" cannot be upheld.

Hey also, I finally got my holiday card in the mail Friday. ♥

Oooooh, sweet! I am glad my music can create such awesome things as this. :DDD

Seriously, it's rough, but really really cool.
