Maybe if I motivate myself I'll actually get things done

Things to write for people:

- [livejournal.com profile] knightlineninja: Zack and Tseng; either Crazy Ronin Fic or Winter Is Coming!!! or Welcome To Wutai (TM)

If I knew the way
I'd seek it out and set forth too;
With scarlet leaves
Woven into offerings,
Autumn has departed

- [livejournal.com profile] aikonamika: Turks; no-kill job: PROSTITUTION RING ANYONE fjalsjflas or THE TEN TIMES TSENG DID INTERESTING NEGOTIATIONS why am I using capslock smash smash

- schatterstern @ IJ: friendly fire: all I can think about is that line from Sage Francis' song Slow Down Gandhi: friendly fire - that's a funny term, like "civil war".

- [livejournal.com profile] shadowwaker: Rufus; acting evil being good: PROSTITUTION! I really need to stop thinking so much about Rufus and just start writing him. If I can canon-bash through Tseng, I SHOULD BE ABLE TO -- *falters and fails*

- [livejournal.com profile] logistika_nyx: Yuffie versus Tseng, TSENG WINS, because Tseng is a Hippy Tree Hugger (TM). Sort of. Kind of. Almost. Yeah.

[[Anyone else that didn't leave prompts in the last post is invited to leave them now!]]

Also, hi:

Have any of you guys travelled to Japan before? And know cheap but good places to stay? Or really cool places to visit? Am planning a trip with friends and really want to keep my budget as low as low can go (otherwise I necessarily sell my soul in the interim). :D :D :D

And as a potential side note, anyone know anything about travelling cheap in the Toronto and New York regions? If I'm going alone I can bunk out in Canada with a friend, but since I'm thinking of taking people with me I'm looking for good places to put them if it works out.

INTERNETS I KNOW THAT YOU ARE POWERFUL. PROVE ME RIGHT!

I am going to comment on your writing and Tseng and Turks and such (promise) and leave a prompt, but not tonight. Is time for bed.

Kyoto and Tokyo as of two years ago. Really liked the Tokyo backpackers - Kyoto we stayed in a woman's house/bedsit style thing, which was great for getting a look at how people live. Will dig up some old records.

Hmm, well my friend is going to Japan, but she's going through a travel agency, and it's pretty expensive. And another friend of mine is... well, I think he's arranged something through school since he'll be taking some courses at the university of Kyoto.

Take me to Canada with you?! XD I'm trying to find an internship there actually (Ontario somewhere) so if you find some place cheap, tell me about it too?

Promts....hmmm, how about Rufus pretending to be a coldhearted bastard while /actually/ helping out? The Turks preferably. (There's this scene in BC like that, and I still think it pwns.)

I think you should write something you can put your heart in actually. Somehow I do notice the difference between Empery and your other stories/drabbles. Empery is a lot easier to read. (Like an oiled machine, you know?)

[identity profile] karanguni.livejournal.com 2008-06-10 09:10 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, we're trying to keep costs down, so I'm scouting for really cheap places to bum out. :D

Oooh, cool prompt! *adds to list* And maybe Rufus will deign to act the main character this time. 8D

*salutes* Trying to find more things I really like to write, but it's not everyday you get something that makes you bounce up and down and yabber at your screen. (Empery? Got a lot of yabbering...)

i used this site: http://www.hostelworld.com to find cheap accom when i went to osaka last year. nothing fancy, the place i stayed in was a business hotel catering to ppl from out of town coming into the city for job interviews and such, but i could get a fairly decent room for around SGD$30 per nite. prices may have gone up this year, and i think the more touristy areas like kyoto or tokyo may be more costly, but if u're not fussy, i think u can get by. of course, it's still worth it to try the ryokan experience for a couple of nites.

a tip i learnt from my local fren there: if u can read/communicate reasonably in japanese, look out for those tickets stores/booths where they sell off-peak tickets at a cheaper rate, cuz public transport can get quite costly.

K's House Hostel (http://kshouse.jp/tokyo-e/) in Tokyo, fairly good location and a good vibe. Very fun peeps in there. Great for partying. When we went, though, everything was fresh as. Had only been open about 6 months. So no telling what it's like now. And me, being old and cranky, had a cry about the mattresses, but my friend loved it specifically for the mattresses so...

I liked the mattresses better here (http://www.rose.sannet.ne.jp/c-inn/) in Kyoto, where we got to sleep on the floor on a mount of quilts. Mmm. This was a twenty minute walk away from Kyoto central station (or a frantic mad 10 minute sprint at midnight, if necessary XD), but was in a very quiet neighbourhood. But then, Kyoto we went for the culture, not the midnight sprints for the train.

It was also our base for shinkansen trips because of the proximity to Central. Not a lot of stuff inside the house, just a quiet crashout zone.

Hope it helps!

awwwwwwwww you made me all nostalgic for Japan now. ;_;

(I win at not logging out of a friend's account, there...)

Ooh, thanks for the tip! That sounds like a really good price range, too. ♥

I fail at reading and communicating in Japanese, but while I'm in Tokyo I have in-the-flesh Japanese friends who will hopefully help me out!

[identity profile] karanguni.livejournal.com 2008-06-10 11:00 am (UTC)(link)
Oh man, those look so good, and in just about the right kind of range, too! *excited* Now I'm really hyped. :D :D :D

[identity profile] ununoriginal.livejournal.com 2008-06-10 02:37 pm (UTC)(link)
oh, in tat case, u shouldn't have a problem. if they're locals, i'm sure they noe more tips than me ;p

[identity profile] karanguni.livejournal.com 2008-06-10 03:13 pm (UTC)(link)
But they probably know nothing about hotels! :D

@ prompt: >.>;; Where'd the 'prostitution' come from, lol?

*laughs* It's not a serious thing, just, man, Rufus is a pimp.
