Goodwill post! WISHLIST MEME.

YULE SEASON IS ALMOST HERE ♥ I've only spent about a year in fandom so far, but the Non-Denominational Celebration Season is a good time as any to express my heartful thanks to all of you people whom I've come to know over the last twelve or so months. ♥ Huge shoutouts to everyone, and a special nugget to Nyx, Knight and Pere because you three? Keep my sane ♥ And drive me insane ♥ And lug me right back to equilibrium.

IN THE SPIRIT OF THE SEASON, THEREFORE: goodwill times! I'm a big proponent of sending stuff off to all ends of the earth. Most human beings I know are big proponents of receiving stuff in the mail. ERGO:

LIST OF FUN FREE THINGS

1. If you haven't already, there my seasonal card-and-bits sending list. I don't care how much you speak to me, I LOVE YOU ANYWAY, and want to send you shiny things in the mail.

2. Or, if you would like something fic-like instead, head over here and I will try to fulfil writing wishes!

3. Even more alternatively, if you'd prefer a couple of icons? Hit me over at [livejournal.com profile] shifgrethor FOR GREAT JUSTICE. Just leave an image in a post, any post!

If, for bizarre reasons, you want to spread joy and give back, there's this beautiful meme below. Comment below, or leave a link to your own post,(with or without requests from above!) and everyone can LINK BACK AND FORTH FOR GREAT JUSTICE:

all I want for
nondenominationalseason
is ---

STEP ONE
Make a post to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 unlimited holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related to medium to really big. The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.

If you wish for real life things, make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa could get in touch with you.

Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ, or link to this post so that the holiday joy will spread.

STEP TWO
Surf around your flist to see who has posted their list. & now here's the important part:

If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use--or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free--do it.

You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call.

There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.

[livejournal.com profile] scheherezhad's is here!
And [livejournal.com profile] eska_rina's is here!

1. The only thing a fic writer could want for Non-Denominational Season? Feedback!

2. I really do want to help my baby cousins (well, one of them's 12, but that's still baby to me in my mind) get a new laptop for Chinese New Year. Lack of work makes this hard, but if you have a few pennies to spare, I'd love you to bits if you'd hire my sorry ass for something. ♥

3. Fair weather and good flying for both my overseas trips. If you are a weather god, I appeal to you that you do not leave me drowned in snow in Toronto.

4. A job. Any job.

5. Now that I think about it, sports headphones, so that I don't keep fumbling with my iPod when I run. D:

6. Patience and clarity of mind.

7. Quotable Quotes cards, eeeee.

8. Joy to all the people who are D: for any reason.

9. More time to write, and the tenacity to improve.

10. THE THICKNESS OF SKIN to get back on track a-drawing.

FEEL FREE (and obligated) to pimp this LIKE A HO.

If we can work out shipment/quality/if the specs suffice, I can send you a laptop?

[identity profile] karanguni.livejournal.com 2008-11-14 01:53 pm (UTC)(link)
H-holy are you serious *_____________*

[identity profile] ellnyx.livejournal.com 2008-11-14 02:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, it's my laptop so it would be second hand (third hand: I bought it off a biker-turned-hardware hacker, if there's such a term. ^^) I've been trying to get rid of it but people stare so suspiciously at free things, and refuse them. You might still want to buy your cousins a new laptop depending on what they're planning on using the lappy for, but if the specs fit what you're after, why not?

[identity profile] karanguni.livejournal.com 2008-11-14 02:45 pm (UTC)(link)
They can't afford a laptop right now, and dad wanted me to pass on my falling-apart-at-the-seams old one to them, so I think anything that whirrs and connects to the internet is game. Jesus, I CAN'T JUST TAKE IT FOR FREE.

[identity profile] ellnyx.livejournal.com 2008-11-14 02:59 pm (UTC)(link)
This is~
Dell Latitude D600
1.6GHz Pentium Processor
1GB RAM
Wireless modem
Indonesian, or something, cos it's got a weird-arse powerpack plug
Missing three keys (tab, ~ key and capslock) courtesy of whippet's amazing flying leap across the keyboard
Very clicky when typed on (hence the fact the Boy has been glowering at me portentiously to get rid of it. He'd never last if I used an oldschool typewriter, that's for sure)

So it is OOOOOOLD. The wireless is cool, tho. But old, and a bit battered also. Your falling apart at the seams may still be a better option, if you can't raise the funds. See how you go by the end of November, maybe, and let me know? Four weeks should be enough shipping time if you want to get it there for christmas.

However, for those sorts of specs you could probably get someone to build you a shiny new laptop for about AUD $500, which I have no idea what it is in SGD. Very close, I think. There's definitely laptops with better than those specs for $500 over here.

[identity profile] karanguni.livejournal.com 2008-11-14 03:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, keys can be replaced with some wrenching about, I hope, but other than that -- what's the powerplug like?

I don't know how able I am to raise anything before March, seriously. Getting a job has to pend on getting back from flying, and with the Atmosphere (TM) as it is, I'm better off freelancing, but I've got to get off my ass and start coding because I am starting from absolute ground zero. \o

There are second hands that I can maybe pick up in Singapore, no idea, really. I'm going to try whoring my skillz out until February and see?

[identity profile] ellnyx.livejournal.com 2008-11-14 03:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Powerplug is fine with an adaptor. Battery lasts for about two hours. Keys still work with just the touch-bit exposed (I don't notice they're not there), but the actual key-covers can't be put back on as god only knows where they are, across the four houses I've lived in through the past couple of months.

Ah, but you've got time to wait and see how you go then, no urgency. For some reason my brain decided to hang on Christmas. I refuse to admit another year is happening. ::glares at it::

Freelance coding sounds like an utterly ideal job. Freelance anything, actually. How much do you charge? I know a budding photographer who wants a website built with his own name (ie, like www.andytakespictures.com) rather than using something else. I can spread the word.

[identity profile] karanguni.livejournal.com 2008-11-14 03:12 pm (UTC)(link)
I'd hang and wait on the laptop, then! ♥ We'll see how effective a bitch I can be. :D :D :D

I'd do work and give advice for less than $40 USD per job, no problem. \o

Dear K

Your posts always make me :D and this one is no exception.

Wish no. 8 = accomplished.

I hope you'll be able to put ticks next to most of those wishes in the near future.

[identity profile] karanguni.livejournal.com 2008-11-14 02:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Dude, my flist is full of rocking. ♥ Make your own list too, 'kay? I WANT TO BE ABLE TO FILL SOME SLOTS.

[identity profile] muse-lightning.livejournal.com 2008-11-14 05:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you for the hugs. :3

#4. Unfortunately, I am not the job fairy. X-x It took me almost 6 months to get a job here, and the way I did it was rather... odd. (And I'm a American, so I don't know if they do this sort of thing over there. It might work for you though.) Check if your school/college/Whatever you call it has a Work-study program and see if you can get on the waiting list. That's how I ended up working at the Museum, and I like it very much!

Bonus: They might limit your work week to about 12 hours, less if you work off campus.

[identity profile] karanguni.livejournal.com 2008-11-14 05:05 pm (UTC)(link)
♥!

The problem is is that, once the exams on, I'm in between schools. \o Graduating high school is kind of epic suck, since I don't know if any of my colleges want me yet, and it's a gaping, yawning 9 months of Nothingness before I'm back to studentland. \o

[identity profile] muse-lightning.livejournal.com 2008-11-14 05:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Haha I know how you feel, although I took my time off to go back down to my home state and lay out on the beach for two months <_< Anyway, only other thing I can maybe add is if your applying online to places, go a couple days after you submit it and talk to the manager to get your face know. Didn't get me the jobs, but they knew me when I came in for interviews!

Is a good plan! Hopefully stuff works out \o

You can put a tick on #8 for me, too. Your posts always turn my D: upside down. :D

And this looked fun, so I put up a wishlist of my own.

[identity profile] karanguni.livejournal.com 2008-11-15 03:32 am (UTC)(link)
♥!!

[identity profile] eska-rina.livejournal.com 2008-11-24 04:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Man, I totally just wrote up a wish list just because of this post, and then I forgot to link to it D: So here (http://eska-rina.livejournal.com/513473.html) it is :D

Oh hey, cool stuff! *adds*
