Comment with a story I've written, and I will tell you one thing I knew, learned, or wondered about while writing the story that didn't make it onto the page.

[Alsowik: could anyone rec me some good Serenity fic? Simon-fic in particular? :D? :D?]

I am brain dead from watching too much tennis. But. I just need to name a story of yours, right? "Outward from Midgar" <3
Also, I just realised there is a whole treasure-trove of unread Baccano! fiction on your master list. Must. Plunder. Soon.

Hmmm, one thing about Outward from Midgar. It probably has to be the thought of, "what would Tseng do if he wasn't obliged to stay?" The fic made me sit down and look at the relationship between the man and Shinra - at the end of the day, when he has nothing left to repay or no bonds between himself and the remaining "government", Tseng really doesn't have to stay. Why should he? I guess I write him dedicated to Rufus/Shinra a lot - but there's very little rationale behind it canonically, so... :D &c. &c.

Oh, and I also thought to myself: damn, filthy porn is hard to write.

I have some old Serenity/Firefly fics at my fiction journal, [livejournal.com profile] whiskeycoffee. They're tagged and in the memories. Most of them are Mal/River, but there's one in particular that has a heavy dose of Simon. I want to say it's "Unraveled"?

And for you: "The shadows cast behind you". (I think that was the proper name, yes?)

[identity profile] karanguni.livejournal.com 2009-01-30 02:30 pm (UTC)(link)
:D :D RECS! *pounces on them*

Shadows cast behind you - a thing I learned? Is that pronouns are really fucking hard to eradicate. *g* But more than that, I thought a lot about Estraven's relationships while I was typing it out. Most of it just kinda hit me without much consideration - thinking about Ashe, his self-deprecation, the usual Estraven stuff - but there was a lot of ???? floating about beyond the 700ish words that the fic ended up as: especially things like, why Ashe, and when? We see Ashe as a really devastated in the books, but surely he must have known that Estraven wasn't (couldn't) give him everything. Did he think he could try? And how hard did Estraven try, being the man that he is, all honorable and D: inducing? And how must the entire kyoremmy responded to their breakup - Estraven being so outwardly deliberate...

Blah blah blah, I go. xD

As always, I'm torn between bascially all of your Bat fic, so I'll go with the most recent, So leave me where the kids are all right.

[identity profile] karanguni.livejournal.com 2009-01-30 02:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Aaaaaaaaaah, So leave me where the kids are all right went on FOREVER. I was in this lull, feeling as though the arc wasn't gelling together as much as it should and that perhaps I should take off and finish the rest as a whole instead of a chaptered fic - depressing stuff! [livejournal.com profile] astolat, for example, wrote Reconcilable Differences as a whole, and that was (and is) my goal for most of my DC fic, and by this point I wanted to THROTTLE Dick and Terry for not coming as naturally as they seemed to go to better writers. *g*

This was probably one of the few fics that had a pretty large outline with points that I forced myself to keep hitting just to get momentum. *ponders*

Most of all - to Bruce/Dick or not to Bruce/Dick, that was the question. I haven't written the rest of the arc because this chapter just made me swing back and forth and back again, and then it made me wonder "would a Bruce/Dick even take the form of a normal Bruce/Dick" and then "aren't they already kind of Bruce/Dick without being Bruce/Dick" and then I gave up and whimpered and posted it. 8DDDD

Polyamorous Recs has a whole firefly page (http://bifictionalbedlam.slashcity.net/recs/firefly.html) and their recs are usually very good... :)

Out of curiosity, is the lieutenant and the lily story in existence? :D?

Gah, I so wanted to finish it in January--! But then I had, like, post-Yuletide letdown. (I'm back now!) And actually, since you reminded me about it, I just thought to check, and the surprise recipient's birthday is actually in mid-Feb, so I am tentatively considering that the ULTIMATE DEADLINE. *meeps*

I need a genderfuck icon...

:D I LOOK FORWARD TO IT COMING TO LIFE. ♥

Do drabbles count? If so, totally Tseng and the cocktail napkins. :D

:D It was one of those pieces where I started out with nothing in my head, and then got hit in the face by Tseng being awesome all on his lonesome at the very, very end. Makes sense for a Turk, at the end of the day, don't it? :D Being so pretty and distracting that no one actually realises what the hell he's been up to even though they've been watching him all night.
