Grim and Lucrecia had bonds - they worked together on Lucrecia's thesis, on the protomateria, on WEAPONs, etc etc. Lucrecia's fuck-up killed Grim (or rather, Chaos killed Grim). Her guilt, when Vin died, lead to her making Vincent's 'dead' body immortal so Hojo could 'host' Chaos within Vincent, because otherwise Chaos would have broken free, if the body had not been strong enough to take it. Seeing as she was pregnant and mako/Jenova-mad at the time, I suspect she was having femdom fantasies and trying to impregnate Vin or something, via Hojo's masculinity.

Hojo gave up Jenova? Huh? Let me read my comment again. No, he didn't give up JENOVA, just that JENOVA wasn't 'his' pet project. After Gast 'disappeared' after Ifalna, Hojo and Lucrecia did stuff to their unborn child in order to convince Shinra that Hojo deserved to be in charge of the project. As it produced Sephiroth, Shinra complied.
I haven't played DoC, because I couldn't get past looking at Vin's swooshy cape. very distracting in a first person shooter, like, REALLY. But yeah, these are notes from my epic Vin.Lu.Hojo, all compiled with chunks of DoC research, so it's probably, sort of, maybe, very close?
One thing - the Jenova-stuff into unborn Sephiroth, Gast approved, but wasn't there for the injections. I think.
Except for, you know, having that Turk-hatred for all scientists (Hojo) but wanting Lucrecia (still a scientist, wat?), having total daddy issues and wanting the woman who slept with AND killed his father, being killed at the hands of her 'husband', being resurrected at her hands, and being impregnated with a great monstrous beast by her husband again, and possibly also being Sephiroth's father, but shhhh on that point.
(I don't know. I imagined that what his gauntlet covers is not a cut-off arm, but rather horrible JENOVA pustules, where his flesh exploded semi-tenticularly, and out of sympathy (ie, to stop convalescent Vincent chewing his own arm off, which made JENOVA cells multiply as they raced to heal the wounds, which made Vincent chew his arm off almost literally going insane with hate for flesh-not-his-flesh) Hojo covered the whole limb with steel.
