So, in some alternate universe when K writes Batman Beyond she is actually able to stop. Clearly that is not this universe, because when K writes Batman Beyond in this universe she loses her fingers. One day I will write for active fandoms. It shall be a happy day, full of me never being able to write Inception. One day.

Written for [livejournal.com profile] au_bingo prompt Other: Mundane. Or, the Fic In Which Terry Does Not Actually Stumble Upon The Cave. Also the Fic In Which Terry Thinks Weird Thoughts About Women, Men, Workplace Attire and Everything.

Dressed

Fandom: Batman Beyond
Rating: PG
Characters: Terry, Bruce, hand-wavey Powers
Summary: There are, theoretically, other ways to fight crime than in cape and cowl.

4078 words (COUNT THEM!!) and too much Terry-brain-splody for one night.

'Don't walk,' Bruce says to Terry's back, watching him wade out amongst the sharks. 'Strut.' )
karanguni: (DICK says y halo thar)
Naturally the first thing out of my year-long fandom haitus is helplessly strange Dick and Bruce. *DESPAIR AND FOND AFFECTION*

Written for [community profile] au_bingo prompt Others: Mutants

Said the Spider to the Fly

Fandom: Batman (comics)
Rating: PG
Characters: Dick, Bruce, cameo by Alfred
Summary: Being able to walk through walls could change everything for Dick, or nothing.

2135 words with many apologies to Mssr. Caroll and Mms. Howitt!

But let it be anything, he thinks. I'll wake up anything; just don't let me wake up a mutant in Bruce's house. )
karanguni: (BATMAN and NIGHTWING)
Pauper-AU strikes back, for charity! Written for [livejournal.com profile] scheherezhad as her tart for [livejournal.com profile] sweetcharityvox. \o\ It's almost like cheating!

Runs In The Family

Fandom: Batman (Pauper!AU)
Characters: Bruce, Dick, Jason
Rating: PG13
Summary: Life, if Bruce had not been rich, goes like this for Dick: a small apartment, joy, dreams, and friends sharing spring breaks.

Notes: Standalone sequel to the earlier part of the AU

4907 words and a lot of Bats Trying To Be Normal (TM).

'Now or next year, Grayson?' Jason shouts from downstairs. )
karanguni: (BATMAN lost)
I solemnly swear to be up to no good to post fic with each update. 8D

Probably the first Batfic I've written that I really like: give it a chance? :D?

This insubstantial pageant faded

Fandom: Batman
Characters: Dick, Bruce (gen)
Rating: PG
Summary: Life, if Bruce had not been rich, goes like this for Dick: a small apartment, joy, dreams.
Warnings: Bruce-is-a-pauper-AU-that-isn't, mix-and-match canon, Stealing Titles From Shakespeare (TM) and other shenanigans.

4447 words and Dick proving (once more) that to love Bruce in any capacity is to love the sound of your own suffering.

Dick discovers that Bruce works for some engineering company – he's a whizz with numbers, does things like the grocery bill up mentally and without even using his fingers. )
karanguni: (OURAN ahhhhh?!)
Re-watching Ouran recently has made me, more than ever, want to write Tamaki/Kyouya, because I swear to every small god I know that that is the one most power-balanced pair of power-brokering pairs to ever broker power in the history of successful relationships.

*whimper*

*whimpers more*

[edit] Tiny Batdrabble, because my brain isn't working right and just comes up with these random things:

Subjunctive

173 words. Batman: Dark Victory. Bruce Wayne, and a world without Harvey Dent. Dark Victory is pretty essential here, though if you've watched The Dark Knight, it's an acceptable substitute. :D

The subjunctive is a dangerous tense; should have, it proposes, could have, also, but worse than both: ought to, and if I were.

If I were free, Bruce Wayne thinks, in the subjunctive, if I were free, if this Gotham did not need Batman, what would that be like? Liberty?

But liberty, fanciful noun, is adjectival: it describes a state, a relative position of being. It isn't Gotham that brings necessity to vigilantism; there is no door for him to open, no rite of passage. Two pictures stare down at Bruce every night from the mausoleum of the manor: there is no escape from the past. That lingers.

But, Bruce Wayne thinks, if I were free, and if I did not need Batman, what would that be like?

The subjunctive passes in history, tripping over itself and then never changing. Once gone, it endures. No escape from that either, and no more questions of if, or ought, or could, or should have.

Not in this Gotham, nor in this world without Harvey Dent.

DEFINE ME?
THE LIVEJOURNAL DICTIONARY MEME

Do this research writing person a turn? 8D I'll do you if you do me *waggle*

Also, let me once again direct you to amazing Batp0rn (Dick/Tim) by [livejournal.com profile] pere_chan, written as an offshoot to a drabble prompted by this pair of Y3 boots as in the cut below. Life is too generous to me some days.

Batman drabble
Tim, Bruce, hints of Dick/Tim and happytimes.
736 words

Boooots )
karanguni: (BATMAN and NIGHTWING)
Third in the Better Dead Than Lead arc.

So leave me where the kids are all right

Fandom: Batman/Batman Beyond
Characters: Bruce, Dick, Terry
Rating: PG
Warning: Hints of slash. Hints of problematic family relations. Lots of hints, too.
Summary: Dick, boy wonders, and also Batmen.

(Follows on the heels of a 50 year displacement into the world of Terry McGinnis.)

5104 words and more inter-Batclan relationship tsunamis. \o/

You're using your command voice, Dick wants to tell Bruce. Do you realise that? )

[edit:] Ow, do my hands hurt from this "drabble arc". Right, K, whatever floats your boat...
karanguni: (DICK swings weird)
I'm not sure if I'm allowed to call this a "drabble" arc anymore...

And lead is light as a feather

Fandom: Batman/Batman Beyond
Rating: PG
Characters: Bruce, Dick, Terry
Warnings: Assumes RotJ has happened. Assumes comics!history. Bruce, because this man deserves a warning all on his own. Typical Batman Relationships (TM).
Summary: Following his 50 year displacement, Dick learns about all the things that have - and have not - changed in the era of Terry McGinnis.

Second in the Better Dead than Lead arc.

4746 words and I'm not even halfway through the list of tiny things I'm supposed to write and oh god, Bruce, why do you have mental sex with everyone?

It's automatic for Dick to say, 'It wasn't your fault.' )
karanguni: (BATMAN and NIGHTWING)
Have a day off from the psychosis of school; fought to get this drabble-fic thing done. 8D It comes with a free dosage of the poem that inspired the title (read: that the title was stolen from) at the end - maybe it'll become a habit. Thing. Then fic will truly be educational. *BEAMS*

*weeps* When will I have sufficient time to write brain-heavy FFVII again?

I trust the sanity of my vessel

Fandom: Batman
Rating: PG
Characters: Dick, Bruce, Tim
Summary: Dick looks back, but mostly what he does is leap forwards.

1330 words, slash if you squint and sponsored by Frank O'Hara.

Bruce lives in Gotham. )
karanguni: (dick is HIGH)
This is your random fluff-induc(ed/ing) DC fic for the day. Watch me crash timelines like a bulldozer! \o\

For [livejournal.com profile] guingel, for winning at guessing ages. 8D I kind of failed at getting a lot of Roy and Tim into this, BUT I TRIED HARD TO LIVE IT THROUGH DICK? 8D

Inefficiency

Roy/Tim, with cameos by Dick and Bruce (and Lian!)
PG-13 and full of random fluff.

1434 words.

HELLO UNCLE ROBIN )
karanguni: (terry MCGINNIS)
Written for Anonymous, who wanted some injured!Terry. \o\ Working on the others. You all can see what happens when I, uh, pledge "400 words".

Living Through The Living

Fandom: Batman Beyond
Characters: Bruce, Terry (gen)
Rating: PG
Summary: Because Terry McGinnis is not immortal.

1454 words and a distinct lack of, um, witty summary comments.

He took it. He took it as far as he could take it, and then he took some more. )
karanguni: (BATMAN and NIGHTWING)
Sometimes I feel, in the middle of an urban city of concrete, like the most beautiful thing in the world that could be done would be to stand above a city of lights and jump, and not be afraid of falling: I can't do that, but music and writing sometimes can, by proxy. /random emoface

Something about Dick Grayson means that one day, very soon, I'm going to have to write meta on him, the same way I want to write meta about anything that changes my world in the smallest, most deliberate ways.

P.S: Soren Kirkegaard, I'm sorry. Almost.

So here:

#1: Download this song. (65daysofstatic - The Major Cities of The World Are Being Destroyed One By One By The Monsters) (Instrumental, and beautiful.)

#2: Close your eyes, stop for a moment, breathe in, and then out.

#3: Play the song.

#4: Loop it.

#5: Read the fic.

#6: Milk and sugar optional.

Teleological

Fandom: Batman (comics)
Characters: Bruce, on Dick
Rating: G
Summary: His is physical, not cognitive.

468 words, and grace.

The leap is, by virtue of its temporality, its blindness and its trust, alone in the way we greet it with universal admiration.  )
karanguni: (terry MCGINNIS)
that I knew would not be there

Fandom: DCAU: Batman Beyond
Characters: Terry\Bruce (oddstroke for potential gen; tomato/tomahto)
Rating: PG
Warnings: Post-Lazarus Pit Bruce. Jason Todd Exists. Gen pretending to be slash pretending to be gen!
Summary Training with Bruce should be a game played by Bruce's rules: should.
Arc: Counting down the hours

1458 words, and Bruce is a really creepy old man - almost as creepy as Terry is, well, saucy. And a wench. The first one in the series that reads like it should.

The thing, Terry thinks desperately, about Bruce is that he always pays you back. )
karanguni: (terry MCGINNIS)
Normal FFVII fic will return when I have more time to think - all the stuff I'm putting out in this time period is like, I don't know, stress relief or something. I sit down, my fingers move, I wake up, and the fic's gone and written itself. 8D

I went looking for some writing

Fandom: Batman Beyond
Rating: PG
Characters: Bruce, Terry, mentions of Dick
Warnings: Universe smashing - replacing toon!Tim with comics!Tim backstory, because, um, comics!Tim is more adorable. Assumes that Return of the Joker has already happened.Ripping off some words from Gotham Knights #10-14.
Summary: Day one was warm-ups and history lessons; day two is about genealogy, and maybe just a little bit about how the entire damn family must have once needed psychiatrists.
Arc: Counting down the hours

1440 words and a lot of Terry wondering just how sane he's going to turn out at the end of all of this. Oh, and a guided tour of, you know. The Ones Who Were.

I went looking for some writing )
karanguni: (dick is HIGH)
Bat!drabble is breeding into an Arc, much like the Bat!family itself. Takes off right after if I told you I felt ageless:

would you tell me I'm not old?

Rating: PG
Characters: Bruce, Terry
Warnings: Me n00b. Terry silly. Bruce caveman. Caveman steal prey and bring back into cave. P.s. Ted Leo I'm really (not) sorry for stealing your lyrics.
Summary: One light warm-up later, and Bruce has to find a place to stash Terry. Terry needs to find a place to stash Bruce's encyclopaedic history.

926 words and Dick Grayson looming! Again! Like a gargoyle!

So, about those three million points for Wayne, again.  )
karanguni: (try your LUCK)
Revision is turning my brain into slush. I haven't written in what feels like a bajillion years. My keyboard feels foreign to me. Also, Batman.

Drabble ahead. Caveat lector: I am not your happy canonical DC fan. I am a sorry little n00b who watched a few episodes of Justice League (/Unlimited), read a few compiled comics collections, sprinted through Batman Beyond, fangirled at The Dark Knight, and who will make 500000 assumptions about Batman and Co. 8D YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.

if I told you I felt ageless

Rating: PG13
Characters: Terry, LazarusPit!Bruce. Is that a comma, or a slash? Who knows - who can tell? Bruce is everything all at the same time. I don't think age even matters, for him.
Warnings: Set after the Batman Beyond episode "Out of the Past".

1241 words, and I have a bad feeling about this, master. Please let this (not?) turn into a series. Oh god oh god. Too late. Counting Down The Hours arc.

If I told you I felt ageless )

Need Terry icons and Bruce icons and Dick icons like woah, now.

A universe of unmapped grief and love
And new master light is beyond
The pleiades and plow and southern stars.

O soaring
Icarus of outworld, burn bright
The traceries of known skymarks,
Slide the highway planets behind
Your clear waxed wings.

Go conquer the everywhere left
Beyond your sad confinement
In a predicted bonehouse,
Witch thrown riddle of flesh
And water.

O soar until nothing
remains but great glittering holes
In the black godspun shirt over your head.
