okay going off to die in bed so that i can sleep through sermon-that-i-don't-want-to-go-for. happy times, everyone, and may your presents be material!

For your random fic-reading needs: some stuff on Rufus and Tseng, built for the stockmarket AU but essentially applicable to anything. Remove "New York" and replace with "Midgar", remove "Chicago" and replace with "Junon", and viola.

Collapsing into bed now.
karanguni: (RUFUS' clothes)
To a kind of basic horror, this morning I woke up and realised that I haven't written for the Lead arc for almost a month. I mean. Holy shit where did October go? Major examinations and fic thousand writing obligations crashing at the same time. Mmm, K. You have no sense of timing, at all.

Quick question: anyone interested in shelling out a few bucks for Smallville DVD boxsets? I've got the first three seasons in Region 3 format; I love them well, but they're taking up space and really need to go. Willing to ship them away cheap if anyone's willing to house them!

Todo list for today:

(x) Coffee. Tea. God, just any kind of caffeine.
() Application
() Math I
() Finish up one of the notebooks
() Plot Lead
(x) Run
(x) Not die

Here, have a song so that this post is not totally useless: Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds - Stay or Leave. Not something you want to listen to if you've broken up recently, unless you've broken up recently and want to wallow.
karanguni: (BALTHIER works)
Strange Untitled Stockmarket!AU

Fandom: Final Fantasy VII/Final Fantasy XII/The Stock Exchange
Rating: PG-99
Characters: Balthier/Tseng, Tseng/Rufus
Summary: Tseng's in New York, Balthier's in London, and Rufus is in the sky as the world burns around them. Hedging on futures can be such tricky things.
Functional explanation: It's all [livejournal.com profile] logistika_nyx's fault. A good chunk of this belongs to her, adapted to fit the situation and tense. You can read the original crack-ery here to see precisely which bits. Nyx: I apologise. Profusely. But probably not profusely enough.

Mostly, this is just a trader!AU: in which Tseng and Balthier make money on the gone-to-shit stock markets of our world. And Rufus waggles his eyebrows a bit. Hooray!

2425 words and oh, such a hell I am going to for this. Beware un-beta'd tense shifts!

'Are you an optimist?' Balthier would say into the receiver, when Tseng picked up. )

To the fic-readers: you're out of luck for this week month and the next, most likely. D: This house is busy with applications and/or panicking and/or revision, and it is a busy house. Meanwhile, distract yourself with any one of the following:

- the US elections
- the US elections
- or, the US elections

To my to-do list: please get shorter. D: D: D: Remember to: confirm mailing addresses of the people you're sending [livejournal.com profile] livelongnmarry notebooks to at the end of this month.

I know spamming the flist is uncool, but at this point, wow do I want to spam the flist with random memes, just so that I can sway into school tomorrow like some sort of zombie.

Pick a fandom of mine and I'll tell you my....

One True Pairing Ship:
Canon Ship:
"If this happens I'll stab my eyes out with a spork" Ship:
"You are one sick bastard" Ship:
"I dabble a little" Ship:
"It's like a car crash" Ship:
"Tickles my fancy but not sold just yet" Ship:
"Makes no canon sense but why the Hell not" Ship:
"Everyone else loves it but I just don't feel it" Ship:
"When all is said and done" Ship:
karanguni: (BONTEN is sleepy)
As I finish up some work with economics (oh god, that took me two days, this is evil) and fight my way through literature, a couple of fandom things, just for personal metamumbling.

When I grow up, I want to be an antivillain antihero anti-goddamned-everything, ma! )

- Bed at 430, up at 930! Why? WHY, BODY, WHY?
- Sold out the journal!idea at [livejournal.com profile] livelongnmarry! I think this is awesome, so long as I don't fail my exams! 8D
- Covered one theistic argument! Forty pages! My sanity!
- Capslock, it is my friend! Exclamation marks, I can use them too!
- Want to write fic! About Tseng being a bastard, and Unique Forms of Torture involving doors!
- Or abstinent!Rufus! Is abstinent a word?
- Here, make your reading worthwhile! A couple of songs in non-point form!

Fall Out Boy - This Ain't a Scene, It's A God Damned Arms Race - Remixed: yay! It's like Turks! Blowing things up! On a disco!

Marilyn Manson versus Goldfrapp - This Is The New Shit: best remix ever! Goldfrapp singing Manson lyrics! Hot! Full of destruction! Awesome! How many adjectives can I include!

Gwen Stefani versus Blur - 2 Songs Crashed: hello, Blur guitar and bass lines to Stefani! Like driving! Into walls!

I think I need to sit down now.

ONE MORE FIC I NEVER IMAGINED I WOULD WRITE.

Title: Different Country For Different Men
Rating: PG-13
Characters: Vincent/Veld
Summary: Vincent and Veld take a moment in the middle of Midgar rising.
Warnings: Hello, blast from the past. This fic is the total fault of (deep breath) [livejournal.com profile] logistika_nyx, [livejournal.com profile] knightlineninja, [livejournal.com profile] white_jenna, [livejournal.com profile] aikonamika and every other person who mentioned the name "Vincent" to me anytime in the last 24 hours. :D

1384 words and holy shit more worldbuilding, what the hell, and Shakespeare.

Different country for different men, back then. )
karanguni: (danny OCEAN)
Title: Making Family
Fandom: Baccano!/Ocean's 11
Characters: Claire, Danny
Rating: PG
Warnings: Written for no true pair. Oh my god, crossover genfic! There's slash. But only if you sort of turn your head sideways and squint.
Summary: Danny doesn't want to have kids; Claire would kill to have some. It doesn't take too long before Danny realises, maybe this kid isn't so bad after all --

1528 words and really bad recruiting skills. I HAVE NO EXCUSE.

Not there was anything to make easier, because Danny wasn't doing this, because if Danny did do it Rusty would have a -- )
karanguni: (uh HAWKEYE)
So. I haven't written anything in ages, I have an exam tomorrow, my brains are falling out of my ears, and 0TP on IJ starts up a new week worth of prompts. So I look at the list, and in my caffeine high, it strikes me that no one ever said I couldn't write Epic Poetry (TM) for 0TP, right?

Right. If you're expecting my usual. Um. Well. I apologise sincerely to fans of both Final Fantas VII and Baccano! alike. I tried to think of a good one. This is all my brain gave me. D8

Title: A Tale of Two Turks
Fandom: Baccano!/Final Fantasy VII
Characters: Luck and Tseng
Rating: PG13
Warnings: The prompt was: Tseng and Luck as the main characters in a fairy tale. Crack, anachronisms and rhyming couplets. Think old school Will Smith rap while you read. Yes. Yes.
Summary: Tseng and Luck in a quest for Shinra and the Greater Good.

666 (-111) words and god I am going to hell. I have no excuse, except that maybe I have an exam in 9 hours ahksafjlsf.

[edit] Now with more accurate rhyming metre!

A fairy tale in 15 stanzas. )

HAY JE ART

Jun. 17th, 2008 11:49 pm
karanguni: (Imai TSUBASA)
Every once in a while, when I'm really stressed, I get the urge to inflict great pain upon both myself and my flist, and so I draw. 8D (Hai remembar them old ones, [livejournal.com profile] darkeyedwolf, [livejournal.com profile] guingel?)

First JE thing I've done in a while, but hey, pretty boys are there to sit still and be painted. Photoshop crashed, what, 18 times during this sketch? :D And so I kind of gave up on anything elaborate. Click on the cut only if you can afford to lose your retinas.

1 hour sketch of Hatachi!Tsubasa. I am going to hell.

Tsubasa, I apologise deeply, but don't really regret maiming you. )
karanguni: (JUDGE)
Mmm, ficspam. Working on everything that I'm not meant to be working on, as usual.

[edit] Because I have no willpower whatsoever: Rufus/Tseng porn. Tseng's going to have one hell of a laundry bill.

Personal ref of random blabbery ideas for the prompts I've got left to do \o/ ENGLISH IS NOT A LANGUAGE THAT I CAN SPREAK. Go ahead. Comment. I DARE YOU. )

Also, Iron Man fic rec of major amazingness: The Value of Secrets by Maya Tawi. Jarvis/Tony Stark. You know you want to.

Meanwhile, a FMA/Final Fantasy VII drabble of mine on IJ, linked to avoid 242904 Posts of Death on your flist. Zack and Hawkeye and dogs. Yes, dogs.

And then the real post:

Title: When The World Ends
Fandom: Baccano!/Ocean's 11
Characters: Claire; Rusty, Luck, Danny and Linus cameos
Rating: PG
Warnings: Crossover written for the No True Pair challenge over at IJ; prompt being: Rusty and Claire: it's the end of the world as we know it, and I feel fine. Genfic is the way to go, because I fail at plot and all that other cool stuff. D:
Summary: Playing poker until Armageddon.

2192 words and the epic failure of plot!sense. \o/

Time for an old man to get to bed. )
karanguni: (RUFUS looks)
This mid-week is shaping up to be pretty hellish, so I sat down and pounded something out and viola, more Tseng! 8D Flist, you are more than welcome to prompt anything that involves this boy, because oh god do I want to write to take my mind off the blunt weapon of School and Stuff (TM).

[edit:] To make a crappy day even better, am I the only one for whom LJ email comment notifications are getting eaten?

Meanwhile, I'm working through the other prompts (I WILL FINISH ALL OF THEM I SWEAR).

This is not me totally drowning in prompts, oh no, not me. Challenge deadlines? What are those? I like the swooshing sounds they make as they go past. 8D

This one's for [livejournal.com profile] knightlineninja, who gave one of the most amazing prompts ever:

If I knew the way
I'd seek it out and set forth too;
With scarlet leaves
Woven into offerings,
Autumn has departed

I apologise; I kind of failed at the Zack part of things. DDDDD: I promise to try and stick more of the spikyhairedman in in another place!

Title: Autumn Has Departed
Rating: PG
Characters: Tseng, Rufus cameo, mentions of Zack
Summary: After the stigma comes the cleansing. Everyone in Shinra has their own forms of absolution; Tseng's is pilgrimage.
Warnings: Set after AC, with a whole lot of arbitrary worldbuilding thrown in for kicks.

1527 words and surprise-attack banter from Rufus, even if he isn't the main character here. Go figure!

'There's something I need to do,' Tseng replied. )
karanguni: (uh HAWKEYE)
Quick to-write list for today and tomorrow (Labour Day, mmm) before I zoom out of the house:

List )

Giveaway!

Quick list of the first few things I want to give away:

BOOK: JRR/Christopher Tolkien: The End of the Third Age

My Histories of Middle Earth collection ended up collecting a few extra bits and pieces: The End of the Third Age is a slim volume comprising 1/3 of the original HoME Sauron Defeated. It goes through the editions and additional material of the final few chapters of the Lord of the Rings, dealing especially with the follow-ups in Hobbiton through to the Grey Havens.

JDRAMA: Dragonzakura

Clearing my shelf of a lot of my JE stuff now; this drama has Yamapi and Abe Hiroshi and Teppei and a lot of other awesome things. It's a local sub, meaning that the English is not too great - but it's passable - and it comes with Chinese subtitles as well.

MANGA: Saiyuki Reload: Volume 5 CLAIMED!

It's Kazuya Minekura and a bunch of guys running West! I have an extra copy of the local subgroup's work, and it's not too bad at all. This volume features the New Priest Dude. This edition comes with a very pretty glossy postcard of Sanzo -- it's one of the artbook shots where he's smoking a cigarette in an otherwise entirely black/white shot.

Policy!

If you want to grab something, leave a claim in the comments and then email me (karangunii at gmail.com; note the double "i"s! Or catch me on AIM at raisecallfold.) with your details (whatever name you want to have on the package and an address)! I am not a stalker or a crazy person, I assure you - just want to pass the goodwill around, and free some cupboard space! All I ask in return is that you do something good for someone else in turn. :D Feel free to pass this link around to anyone who you think might want the stuff.

Oh boy

I think I'm going to end up apping for [livejournal.com profile] campfuckudie later next month. As Ed. Radical Edward. Ed. Mostly because I think I've lost my mind.

A universe of unmapped grief and love
And new master light is beyond
The pleiades and plow and southern stars.

O soaring
Icarus of outworld, burn bright
The traceries of known skymarks,
Slide the highway planets behind
Your clear waxed wings.

Go conquer the everywhere left
Beyond your sad confinement
In a predicted bonehouse,
Witch thrown riddle of flesh
And water.

O soar until nothing
remains but great glittering holes
In the black godspun shirt over your head.
