Wrote a decent amount, so they're all getting grouped together here and linked to AO3. A big hello to anyone from the community, too!

*CRY OF RAGE* It's it's it's one of those months! Where there are WORDS but no WRITING comes out; there are like these IDEAS stuck in my head the way PARSLEY STICKS IN TEETH but no output because they have no SOULS. They are like ZOMBIES. D: FANDOM ZOMBIES. I've got a Batman Beyond fic on the burner and a Gundam Wing fic that won't end, BUT ALL I WANT TO DO IS COME HOME TO FINAL FANTASY VII, where the WILD GEESE RUN FREE and the STREETS ARE DARK, COOL AND CALM.

/totally useless post! *BEAMS*

*sob* Fact of the matter is, is that out of all of the tiny little draft ideas that I have, the ones I love best are still in FFVII, and/or in Nasdack, oh god, I am homesick for a fandom, this is clearly a call for Ben & Jerry's.

[edit] THIS. THIS IS WHAT I FEEL LIKE, THIS SONG: Jim's Big Ego - Stress.

I love to work I love to run I love to waterski snowboard
jetski skydive parasail handglide rollerblade mountainbike
bungee jump well I mean I love to do these things if I had the time
I love to work I love to work I love to work after work
I love to spend a little time with this woman that I'm seein
cause we never get the time to spend together
so we call each other up and we talk about work
but I think id really love is to get up by myself on a tiny little island
in the middle of the ocean with just me a book and a cellular phone
and a personal computer in case something came up
and I'd eat and I'd drink and I'd run and I'd sleep
and do nothing but swim all day
except I don't know how to do laps in the ocean
where are the SHARKS where are the SHARKS!!!

Concrit on the writing meme, watching Trek for the second time, three day "weekend" that involves a lot of public speaking, darkrooms, Photoshop and code: my favourite brew.

>:D Writing is so happening tonight, even though (especially because) I have to be up at 7 tomorrow morning.

Live long and prosper.

[edit] Also, hilariously enough, I don't know how I get the dancer to change directions, but once I do I can't change her back, and now I am FIXATED.

[edit] To get her to swing counter I get her to swing out her leg; to get her to swing clockwise I get her to squeeze down on her crotch. OR IS THAT THE OTHER WAY AROUND. HELP.

[edit] AUGH and I can only do it with my laptop tilted 90 degrees clockwise!

[edit] Am now getting her to do some sort of retarded on-the-stop forward facing can-can competition with herself, though I usually default to clockwise. Must... stop... looking... It's all in the back of the calves!

[edit] LAST EDIT I SWEAR. It is sad, but thinking of porn makes her swing clockwise, and thinking of square roots swings her anti. I'm sure that if I was told that clockwise = left brain instead of clockwise = right brain, the opposite would be true. DONE NOW. Tomorrow, Evil Spock/Tseng in action flick style fic... somehow with plot!

I don't know if it's physically possible to feel hung over from doing too much work, but in the weird blend from yesterday to today or sometime in between there has been like, website designing and discussions again on etiquette in fandom and race and brains before I ended up enabling MORE TENTACLES but also a few thousand more words of the best [livejournal.com profile] nasdack arc yet (even though I still am too stunted mentally to write anything good, dear brain, WAKE UP!!) and then there was like, something, man, the Angus Ross prize I am so ??!?!? (um, for non-Sporeland people, the AR isn't really a slab of beef in this case) and kinda :DDD to know that there's a Rufus Shinra in my circle of friends, and then now comes the blistering knowledge that I have to prepare philosophy essays in T-minus 1 hour and oh man.

/mental hangover

Going to the post office later to ship things off to [livejournal.com profile] knightlineninja and [livejournal.com profile] aetal and [livejournal.com profile] ellnyx -- if anyone wants one of the test prints (the insane jig-jagged lined out ones) from the previous photography post as a kind of card, drop me a comment! [edit: caveat lector, if I run out of the house before I get your comment, I'm sorry!]

And, um, please do take a peep at the sales post for good if you've got a bit of spare change! MY SOUL WILL THANK YOU FOREVER.

Lots of things are churning in the ficbin, but nothing's ready to be shown to the big bad world yet. \o A couple of teasers/random thoughts:

Final Fantasy VII: Restorations III

Every time I embark upon a multiparter, my first thought is you are such a lazy bastard and then the next is oh my god what have you got yourself into now? It's kind of freaky that Restorations, in spite of being slow and short and snail-like, has evolved into a new category of STOP OH GOD WHAT ARE YOU DOING. Next up: reverse-colonialisation, Reeve being a better politician than the whole world combined, Rufus getting his ass summarily handed to him by the irony gods, Tseng v. Past v. Present, and Wutai Existing For Us To Make Stuff Up About It.

Batfic: pauper!AU

  1. Dick and Bruce argue for great profit
  2. Why does this sound like every other Batfic in the universe?
  3. Oh, and Harvey Dent.

Gundam Wing

Zechs/Treize, because I NEED TO WRITE THIS SO BAD. I've this bad feeling that I'm going to need 8 hours in front of my episodes with a notepad and a few flowcharts before I get to writing it with any measure of confidence, though. But the nature of prediction! The ETERNITY OF FRIENDSHIP. Treize's blatant inability to keep his hands to himself! Zechs versus magnanimity versus monogamy! \o/!!

Antique Bakery

I am so stalled on this one, but Tachibana needs to go get (way)laid, courtesy of [livejournal.com profile] voksen and the good nation of Korea.

This needs a pimp post all on its own. Suffice to say: vampires (in a good way), no clear seme/uke relationship, no clear BL, NANAO CHRONO, mindfuckery on a level that I only wish I could emulate, and lots and lots and lots and lots of fun.

Here, go read scans, or head to [livejournal.com profile] ivory_and_horn's IJ pimp post.

Series I've finished ploughing my way through sans mercy or humility watching:

x Peacemaker Kurogane (uh, what)
x Kuroshitsuji (I like Sebastian's clothes better than I like the plot)

Any recs, guys? :D? Anything? Good historical stuff would totally rock my boat.

Also, I am pimping out this course that [livejournal.com profile] shadowwaker is doing. Please do head to this post if you want to sign up! I'll leave the objectives under a cut, but there are loads more details on that post than there are here, so please do go check it out. ♥

MY BRAIN HURTS. There will be fic later tonight, which is why I am posting now, but god my brain hurts. 6 hours of CSS/XHTML/Jquery later and what do I do? I google search for more tutorials ahghgnghghghghhhhhhh. Make it stop, please, make it stop.

Question: would any of the Batfans on the flist want to be on a limited-release filter for progressive chapters of the Bruce-is-a-pauper AU continuation? I don't want to post it publicly until I get it all out and maybe have a chance to rearrange it, but I have the attention span of a gnat, so... 8D? Anyone? If there're enough people, I can start posting tonight! *wheedles*

Language altered to appear suitably Annoyed (R) and Irascible (TM); this post bears only minimal resemblance to members of the public that may or may not be either living and/or dead. I swear.

28/1: Enumerated List of Bureaucratic Stupidity

  1. To the American Banking system (and its slew of derivatives): I do not see the need or purpose in your sending my father and myself endless streams of correspondence. I do not need additional paperwork regarding anything to make me feel more self-important about the amount of money this family has deposited in your incredibly (pun fully intended, along with your 0.0000012% per month interest rate) and needlessly complex credit system, and my father is considerably jaded as-is and does not want to be informed, by means of (to date) 7 formal letters, 3 brochures and however many bits and pieces of paper marauding as check(que)books and/or advertisements, that you are Fully Aware of where his money is at any and all times. Rather, I'd be obliged if you left me with less drivel, and more information regarding parts of my account that I should've been informed of beforehand, id est: the drawing limit on my debit card, the fact that said debit card cannot be used for online transactions, and the fact that your company - against all standards of common sense and integrity and the ability to read in sequential lines - managed to not only misspell my name but also managed to rearrange my mailing address such that the second line became the first and the first line became invention. Thank god for postal codes.

  2. To the paper pushers with whom I am communicating in order to secure simple, no-frills interviews and tours of your facilities: I plead with you never to reply to emails with the phrase (verbatim:) "[i]n regards to the unformal meetings". I weep for you, your colleagues, and whoever it is that has to read your reports on a regular basis, Mms. "Manager of International Relations".

  3. To the makers of such movies as Troy: mother of Hades, what are you on, people? I could've forgiven Alexander its woes due to the fact that its casting was doomed to begin with, but Troy? Troy? Troy? One would think that Mssr. Pitt, having acted as a vampire and a gambler and a psychopath and a de-aging-re-aging man, would be able to brush his neatly evolved American accent to one corner and do better than scream (verbatim:) "IMMORTALITY!!!!!! TAKE IT!!!!!!!!!!!! IT'S YOURS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!", punctuation not exaggerated. Furthermore, Patroclus. If actual further elaboration is necessary: what of the ardent feminisation, and then the constant implications of "cousin", and then the fact that he - and Mssr. Bloom - served only to make Mssrs. Pitt, Bana and Bean seem muscular and manly in comparison? I decline to comment on the bad theatrical execution, the constant (and annoying) soundtrack, and the fact that the depicted Paris could be broken thus by kicking any particularly adorable puppy somewhere in his vicinity.

  4. To my love, gmail: I trust you. Please cease being slovenly; I have work to do.

*g* Okay, I have to stop, otherwise I think my brain will fall apart. But, yes, today has been an interesting day: for one, I've rediscovered the effects of a cup of coffee. Maybe it's just the fact that I'd spent around 9 years of my life getting only four or six hours of sleep per night and then slogging the rest of the day, but I'd never been affected by coffee until a few months ago. Tragedy! For then I could not drink it ere sleeping. I thought that I'd acquired some strange infection of the lymph. Truefact: after sleeping only 2 hours last night and then braving the roads (thankfully dead: I guess everyone's still hung over) on my bicycle, drinking a flat white did nothing more than restore me to humanity, as opposed to pushing me over the edge into Hyped Up Psycholand. Profit!

Additionally: if you live in the Australasian continent and are on my flist, there's a pretty high chance you're getting something in the mail sometime during the next 4-6 days. *BEAM*

Also: note to self, write creepy random boring piece about how the roads were empty. ish.

Thus is my boring life. *sets to writing Tsengfic at last*

[edit] Ended up updating the downingjones section of [livejournal.com profile] nasdack; essentially: hell.

I come home and I'm exhausted after a day of eating too much food and walking too much and talking too much to friends I haven't seen in too long and I'm about to pass out from doing too much and then I find peace(ish) in the Middle East and electronic tripping (of the short circuiting variety) and the flist writing RPS and prompts in my inbox and what the hell, I am amazed by the universe, the universe is an amazing place.

Internets. What would I be without you? Oh, flist, my flist.
karanguni: (TSENG smiles)
tell a friend.

I am indeed home, and sweltering for more reasons than one! Work and the weather being the absolute bestest combination of things on earth. But, with the new year dawning and all sorts of interesting prospects on the horizon, I look forward to delving back into writing and stuff with a lot of ink, but mostly with my keyboard. :D

I know I owe a lot of you real-life mail -- I'll ship off the things I have on hand, but if the others take a while, it's because I'm trying to start earning a bit of my own credit; just something to do for my family in this time of ROCKS FALLING AND EVERYONE DYING. :D Not that we're in any trouble, just that my mental guilt is strong.

So, to get back into things:

Give me a character from any one of my fandoms (though I will love you if you select the ones I love in my heart *coughTSENGcoughESTRAVENcough*), and a medium of correspondence (email, longhand letter, memo, post it note, writing on wall, &c.), and a prompt. I will zoom something back to you! Multiple requests are welcome; I will write at my descretion. ♥

Postscript: pssst, and if you feel in a generous mood after the meme, you can head over to this fanficcers meme and help tell me what you think of my fic! 8D *SHAMELESS*

Batman Beyond: Terry, longhand letter to Bruce
Left Hand of Darkness: Genly, writing on the wall to Sorve
Final Fantasy VII: Tseng, longhand letter by candlelight
Batman: Jason, leaving writing on the wall

Okay, right, so I wake up this morning after popping a couple of tabs of paracetamol last night, and mostly I just feel like I've been rolled over by a violently angry trucker. Repeatedly. I have to get on a plane in roughly one and a half days, so that's not looking too shiny. *rolls*

That said, might as well make someone else's day! :D [livejournal.com profile] paceus asked for a DVD commentary for Ho ho ho (Discworld). Here it is:

(this goes out from under the cut, because people need the love:)

Things I love - again and again and again I have struck gold with the people I've met. It's insane - everyone seems to talk about fandom wank and such, but I've never encountered anything other than squee and constructive crit.

[livejournal.com profile] pere_chan: my most amazing Pere! I do not know if you are home to read this right now, but thank you so damned much. You went from being one of the first people that I felt comfortable squeeing with on AIM to being one of my closest friends outright. ♥ Your Batman art blows my mind away - your art in general blows my mind away - but not more than your generosity of spirit and optimisim.

[livejournal.com profile] dnatio_memoriae: I am so glad you came out of the woodwork! Thank you so much for the last couple of months; it has been one hell of a ride. *g* You're always around with something to say about Turkfic, for which I am ETERNALLY GRATEFUL IN ALLCAPS, and I love love love the concrit you gave for Restorations. I love you art so much that I have this entire folder with nothing but your pieces. I look at it and it brings a warm glow to my stomach. TOGETHER WE WILL MUSH LUCIFER AND FINAL FANTASY VII AND BLIND THE WORLD. *g* *rolls*

[livejournal.com profile] logistika_nyx: you are the master, and I, merely the little slavegirl thing. *g* You have constantly been around to flail at and with, and to have endless comment threads when one/both of us are bored at school/work, and god knows you've made me a better, more thinky writer than I would've been otherwise. I hope you and the Boy are home and settled into House! :D I am blessed to have got to know you. And, you know, write copious amounts of (mind)porn with you.

[livejournal.com profile] kabuki_chan: I hope that you are alive! And that the world has not eaten you! ♥ Thank you so much for the co-squee and the amazing art over the past year. You are the bestest!

[livejournal.com profile] _ice_lady_: LET YOUR THESIS NOT EAT YOU, PLEASE. ♥ Thank you for being around and always having time to comment spam and grin and glee. ♥

[livejournal.com profile] maho_kiwi: kiwi! I am so glad to have got to know you and Laylah - the both of you are such landmarks of fandomy goodness, and the both of you work so hard that I feel kind of star-fishy and useless in comparison. You guys have been amazing generous with your time and yourselves, so ♥ ♥ ♥!

My nose is starting to clog up and object to a lack of medicine, and I'm running out of the braincells needed to do a proper thank-you list, but nonetheless:

[livejournal.com profile] white_jenna, [livejournal.com profile] puella_nerdii, [livejournal.com profile] aikonamika, [livejournal.com profile] guingel, [livejournal.com profile] mithrigil, [livejournal.com profile] shadowwaker -- and everyone else that my brain's not remembering: thank you so much for the past year. ♥

To all the new flisters, especially the Yuletides [livejournal.com profile] mjules, [livejournal.com profile] numinicious, [livejournal.com profile] elishabet, [livejournal.com profile] liviapenn, [livejournal.com profile] dhaunea, [livejournal.com profile] kangeiko, [livejournal.com profile] deepad, [livejournal.com profile] autumn_belias, okay here I really *am* running out of braincells - I love you guys for #yulechat, and I lookforward to mm.org, and the next yuletide, and all the OTHER CRAZY. Oh, and five million NYRs. ♥

Finally took a day or so to do nothing but indulge myself - between coming fast and hard off the exams and straight into soul-eating fic, I decided not to write another few chapters and just to laze around and be human for a little while. Still feeling kind of twitchy; my body wants me to do stuff, even though my mind is telling me firmly to back off.

She has a life, does she? )

Here, have a few guilty pleasure listening songs:

Miley Cyrus - See You Again

This song is so hilariously teeny-bopper, but also hilariously catching, if you ignore Miley Cyrus' self-insert into the lyrics. It's my private Stephanie!song, for the Batfans on the flist. Somehow it sparks a little of young!AU!Elena, for the FFVII people. God, pop.

The last time I freaked out
I just kept looking down
St-st-st-stuttered when you asked me what I'm thinking 'bout

Smashing Pumpkins - The End is the Beginning is the End

For the Batfans: Yoinked right off the Batman and Robin soundtrack, this track makes me think of Jason Todd, Dick gone wrong and Timothy logically extended. It's a frightening Gotham. For the VII fans: dude, this is like. Midgar slums +++++ I write angry Tseng and think of this fondly.

Is it bright where you are?
Have the people changed?
Does it make you happy; you're so strange.

[edit] Bugger. Pornbattle on IJ just decided to buttonsmash me. Potentials:

Interwebs seems to be full of pain and suffering and RL at the moment, and so - like a Santa losing weight because he's clambering over rooftops - I take a sec, and come out to deliver recs! Most of them will link to IJ, because, man, Kinkfest Happens (TM).

Blue Snakeskin Sky, by [livejournal.com profile] laylah: Final Fantasy VII Turk fic! Written for [livejournal.com profile] writerz_bloc and I for the LLNM auction, and maaaan, do I appreciate this fic. I know it's been a helluva long time since L's written FFVII, and how mine-field like it is for her, so ♥ for putting together a really succinct and cool cross-section on the Turks. Oh, and, have I mentioned Turks yet?

Also by L, Cut Up Boy, a Baccano! Claire/Ladd fic with mentions of Luck. It was a prompt of mine on Kinkfest, and I don't know how in hell I missed it the first time, but this is an honest-to-god fun read. It sounds exactly like how a good fic should sound: like it's been a blast for both the writer and the audience, and maaaan. So good.

Batman!wise, because I have been sucker-punched by this fandom, and have watched probably more Justice League than I really ought to be watching during a busy period:

Come build in the empty house. A Batman Beyond fic by Livia, from the Yuletide Archives of Awesome. It doesn't matter if you don't really know the canon to Batverse - I sure as hell don't. It's about Bruce and Terry McGinnis (the future Batman) dealing with -- everything. Aging, which we all know Bruce must eventually do. Bruce, who is someone no one really expected to have to deal with, Batman (which one?) least of all. Tim, and what happened to him during his time as Robin. It's not about the canon, it's about the humans in it: the wholly human humans, the too-human humans that make the Batfamily as brilliant and deep as they are wide and fucked up.

A Cure For Common Boredom, an Ouran Tamaki/Kyouya feel good porny happy fic by [livejournal.com profile] hooloovoo_too. I remember reading her other Ouran stuff, and man. So good. It's nice to just slip into characterisation that's believable and awesome and cool all at once. My vocabulary has not been much improved by my nap, so I'll leave it there.

A universe of unmapped grief and love
And new master light is beyond
The pleiades and plow and southern stars.

O soaring
Icarus of outworld, burn bright
The traceries of known skymarks,
Slide the highway planets behind
Your clear waxed wings.

Go conquer the everywhere left
Beyond your sad confinement
In a predicted bonehouse,
Witch thrown riddle of flesh
And water.

O soar until nothing
remains but great glittering holes
In the black godspun shirt over your head.
